Ambitions for Later Life
The Ambitions for Later Life programme provides information and advice to people experiencing life events and supports them to achieve their longer term ambitions.
What is Ambitions for Later Life?
Our Ambitions for Later Life programme is delivered through tailored information and advice sessions aimed at people who are generally of State Pension Age or older. The programme specifically targets the needs of older people who are experiencing a significant life event or coping with a life change by providing one-on-one sessions. This could be a later life transition moment like retiring from work, which is all about making the most of the years ahead. Likewise, it could be a dementia diagnosis where preparation and support can make the road ahead more manageable.
The programme delivers information, advice and support on a range of issues faced by older people. The service is delivered primarily through face-to-face contact including home visiting.
Following the initial advice and support provided, the adviser would work with them to help them identify what they would like to achieve following the transition point in their lives and how this may be achieved.
How can the programme help me?
The programme has supported over 2,000 older people and identified an average of £1,200 per year in unclaimed benefits.
