Free Wills Month

This March is Free Wills Month

If you're 55 or over, you can have a will written or updated for free with a participating solicitor.

What is Free Wills Month?

Free Wills Month allows national charities, including Age UK, the chance to offer their supporters aged 55 and over the opportunity to have a simple will written or updated free of charge by a participating solicitor.

An up-to-date will, written by a solicitor, can help ensure your wishes are followed. It allows you to provide for your family and friends and leave a gift to your chosen charities too.

By being part of this campaign we hope you'll consider supporting Age UK with a gift in your will, although there is no obligation to do so.

The campaign pays for simple wills. If the will is more complex and needs additional work, the solicitor may ask you to pay the balance yourself. It's best to check this when booking your appointment.

Where is the campaign taking place?

The campaign that Age UK is part of has participating solicitors in the following areas:

Blackpool, Chichester, Chesterfield, Coventry, Crawley, Darlington, Eastbourne, Essex, Hastings, Harrogate, Kent, Liverpool, London (Locations within M25), Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northampton, Peterborough, Sheffield, Sunderland, Wirral, Wolverhampton, Worthing.

How do I take part?

Free Wills Month is intended for individuals or couples aged 55 and over. If you're making your will as a couple, only one of you needs to be over 55.

  1. If you are in one of the above locations, visit the Free Wills Month website
  2. Type in your postcode to find out which solicitors are taking part in the campaign in your local area
  3. Make an appointment directly with the participating solicitor during March.

It's worth noting that the numbers of appointments are limited, so we recommend you book your appointment with your chosen solicitor as soon as you can. Once all available appointments are booked the campaign will close – this may be before the end of March.

Your gift could leave a world less lonely

If you do decide to take part in the campaign, there's no obligation to include a gift to Age UK in your will. However, we'd be extremely grateful if, after taking care of your loved ones, you could consider remembering us in this way.

Without the kind gifts that supporters like you leave us in their will, we simply couldn't be there for all the older people who need us.
