We've partnered with Free Wills Month so you have an opportunity to support Age UK and have a simple will written or updated for free. The October 2020 campaign is now finished. The next campaign starts on 1 March 2021.
Free Wills Month allows national charities, including Age UK, the chance to offer their supporters aged 55 and over the opportunity to have a simple will written or updated free of charge by a participating solicitor.
An up-to-date will, written by a solicitor, is the best way to ensure your wishes are followed. Your will is a reflection of your life and your wishes and it allows you to provide for your family and friends and leave a gift to your chosen charities too.
By being part of this campaign we hope you'll consider supporting Age UK with a gift in your will, although there is no obligation to do so.
Free Wills Month takes place every March and October. The locations for the next campaign will be available on 1 March 2021.
To take part in March, please register your interest and we’ll be in touch with what you need to know about Free Wills Month, how you can get ready for your appointment as well as first access to the details of participating solicitors firms in your area.
Free Wills Month is intended for individuals or couples aged 55 and over. If you're making your will as a couple, only one of you needs to be over 55.
It's worth noting that the numbers of appointments are limited, so we recommend you book your appointment with your chosen solicitor as soon as you can. Once all available appointments are booked the campaign will close – this may be before the end of the month. This campaign pays for simple wills. If the will is more complex and needs additional work, the solicitor may ask you to pay the balance yourself. It's best to check this when booking your appointment.
Keith is 99 years old, lives alone and is largely housebound. He never married and with no family or close friends nearby, he'd be lucky to receive three visitors in a year. Keith was put in contact with Age UK to help ease his loneliness and isolation. Through our telephone befriending service, we matched Keith with Tim, who’s in his twenties.
Tim calls Keith every week for a chat, and the two have formed a close friendship – despite their 70 year age gap. Keith says Tim's calls have made a huge difference to his life, telling us they 'don't just make my day, they make my entire year'.
Supporting older people like Keith through our befriending services wouldn't be possible without the generosity of people who leave Age UK a gift in their will.
When Age UK came into my life and I got the chance to have a weekly chat with a new friend, it really did make a big impact on me. I’ve got something to look forward to each week.
Having a will gives you peace of mind that your wishes will be respected, and the people and causes important to you will be looked after.
Our free guide tells you everything you need to know about making a will, with step-by-step advice to make the process as simple as possible.
