RAF Benevolent Fund Group Calls

joining_forces_984x400.jpg

We offer group calls for older people who share a Royal Air Force background. Find out more about how group calls work.

Important information

Please note, group calls may not be suitable for people with memory loss, dementia or mental health issues that require higher level support. These conditions may affect the person’s ability to build friendships within a group. In some instances, people with these conditions may actually find the calls more distressing.

RAF Benevolent Fund Group Calls

logo.svgAge UK partners with the RAF Benevolent Fund to provide free, regular, group friendship telephone calls for up to six older people, supported by a trained volunteer. The calls are an easy way to connect with others with links to the RAF, share stories and experiences, and make new friends, all from the comfort of your own home.

Who can join the group calls?

Anyone aged 60 or over who is an RAF veteran, or the partner, spouse or widow(er) of an RAF veteran can join the groups.

How do group calls work?

Calls are facilitated through our secure automated system. All you need is a landline or mobile phone, and you’ll receive a call each week. If you miss a call, you can ring our friendly team and we’ll dial you in. The calls are completely free of charge.

How often are the calls?

The calls take place each week, at the same agreed day and time. They’re an hour long, and offer a free, safe, and friendly environment in which to chat, share stories and enjoy friendship with others.

How do I take part?

Please contact the RAF Benevolent Fund on 0300 222 5703 (Monday to Thursday, 9.30am – 4.30pm, Friday 9.30am - 4pm) or email support@rafbf.org.uk

If you’re referring someone else, please make sure you have their consent to make the referral.
