Report fraud to Action Fraud

You can report fraud, including online or internet crimes, using the Action Fraud reporting tool. Action Fraud is the UK's national fraud and cyber crime reporting centre.

What crimes you can report

Action Fraud deals with crimes related to financial or online fraud where the victim and the fraud were in the UK. You can report a crime on behalf of a victim but you must have their permission.

If you have received a potential scam message or computer virus but no money has been lost or you haven’t responded to it, report it to Action Fraud using the Attempted scams or viruses reporting form.

Before you start - 6 things you need to know

  1. Desktop PC only.The form is not optimised for mobile or tablet devices. Visit the Action Fraud website for a better experience or call the Action Fraud team on 0300 123 2040.
  2. The form takes around 20 minutes to complete and it must be finished in one session. Your session will expire if you spend more than 40 minutes on a page before pressing 'Next'. Make sure you have any relevant information to hand, such as dates or details of how money was lost.
  3. If you get stuck on any part of your report, you can get advice from an Action Fraud advisor by clicking on the web chat icon. Please note this will open up a new window and opening hours apply.
  4. Action Fraud will refer all fraud crime cases to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB). The NFIB is run by the City of London Police, which is the lead force for fraud in the UK.
  5. Each report cannot be investigated individually but the information you provide will help the police build a national picture of fraud. In some cases the police and other law enforcement agencies may want to contact you for further information.
  6. Age NI will not see your data. For your peace of mind the data you provide is totally secure and will only be provided to the police or anti-fraud agencies via Action Fraud.
