How Age UK is tackling loneliness

There are lots of reasons people feel lonely in later life. Sadly, there’s not always a quick fix to make things better. That's why Age UK works tirelessly to fight loneliness and make sure everyone has someone to turn to.

What we do

  • Run a dedicated telephone befriending service, helping thousands of older people feel less lonely.
  • Operate a free Age UK Advice Line, open 365 days a year.
  •  Conduct expert research into what loneliness is really like for older people in the UK, and what can be done to make it better
  • Campaign to make sure older people's voices and needs are heard.

We also work with a network of local Age UKs which offer services like lunch clubs, cooking classes, walking groups, home from hospital support and crucial advice when there is no one else to turn to.

As a charity, we rely on the support of people like you to keep providing services and support to older people experiencing loneliness.

The difference we can make together

Hundreds of thousands of older people in the UK will spend this week alone, with no one to talk to.

Together we can change this. We can bring friendship and conversation back into the lives of older people, and show them that someone cares.

Please help by making a donation today.
