Free Wills Month
This October Free Wills Month will take place in Cardiff and Swansea. It offers our supporters the opportunity to have a will written or updated free of charge.
What is Free Wills Month?
Age UK, along with other national charities, is offering members of the public aged 55 and over the opportunity to have a simple will written or updated for free of charge by one of the solicitors participating in the campaign.
An up-to-date will written by a solicitor can help ensure your wishes will be respected. It allows you to provide for your family and friends and leave a gift to your chosen charities too.
We hope that our supporters will see this as an opportunity to consider supporting Age Cymru with a gift in their will, although there is no obligation to do so.
Where is the campaign taking place?
The campaign that Age UK is part of has partcipating solicitors in Cardiff and Swansea.
How can I take part?
- If you are in one of the above locations, visit the Free Wills Month website from the 1 October
- Type in your postcode to find out which solicitors are taking part in the campaign in your local area
- Make an appointment directly with the participating solicitor during October
It’s worth noting that the numbers of appointments are limited, so we recommend you book your appointment with your chosen solicitor as soon as you can. Once all available appointments are booked the campaign will close – this may be before the end of the campaign month.
Who is the campaign open to?
Free Wills Month is intended for individuals or couples aged 55 and over. If you are making your will as a couple, only one of you needs to be over 55.
The campaign pays for simple wills, in other words, wills that are reasonably straightforward. If the will is more complex and need some additional work, the solicitor may ask you to pay the balance yourself. It is best to check when booking your appointment.

Every gift makes a difference
If you decide to take part in the campaign, there is no obligation to include a gift to Age Cymru in your will. However, we would be extremely grateful if, after taking care of your loved ones, you could consider remembering us in this way.
